Following an illness which extended over a period of three months, necessitating great suffering, yet patiently borne, there passed to rest on Monday, August 29th, Elsie Pearl Thompson. Deceased was born near Hampton on Oct. 26th, 1888, being the only daughter of the late Henry Jack and Jessie Ann Moffat Jacks, and has lived around the Salem neighbourhood practically all her life. On April 1st, 1918 she was united in marriage with Archie Wylie Thompson who with three daughters, [names of living individuals have been removed] survive, also her aged mother, Mrs. Henry Jacks.
The funeral which was largely attended took place from the family residence on Thursday, Sept. 1st, and was conducted by Rev. A.W. March of Tyrone, interment taking place in Bowmanville Cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful and very much appreciated. The pallbearers were Messrs. E.J. Silver, C.M. Carruthers, R.M. Cale, L.A. Squair, L.C. Coombes and W.G. Werry.
Among those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. T.B. Thompson and daughter, Mary Katherine and Miss A. Gielty, Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Amos Rogers and Mr. and Mrs. Will Greenaway, Little Britain, Mrs. Alfred Rich, Oakwood, Mrs. Howard Willoughby, Island Grove, Lake Simcoe, and Mrs. Alan Williams, Toronto.
