"Ellis C. Butzier; Former Bettsville resident Ellis C. Butzier, 79,formerly of Bettsville, died at 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at his home at 306 Ohio Ave. He was born in Amsden, July 6, 1920, to Albert andRuby (Zimmerman) Butzier. His wife, Florence Lucille (Cochran) Butzier,whom he married May 4, 1942, in Napoleon, survives. Other survivorsinclude: five children, Mrs. Ronald (Donna) Clingman of Fostoria, Mrs.Gus (Karen) Hoffman of Huron, James Butzier of Streetsboro, Mrs. William(Deanna) LaLone of Tiffin and Mrs. Ricky (Cynthia) Trumbo of Helena; twobrothers, Kenneth Butzier of Kansas, Ohio, and Verlin Butzier ofFremont; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A daughter,Nancy Lee Butzier; a grandson, Craig Michael Hoffman; three brothers andtwo sisters also are deceased. Mr. Butzier, a World War II U.S. Armyveteran, retired in 1978 as an instrument repairman from Basic Inc.,after 35 years of employment. A 1938 graduate of Bettsville High School,he was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and theBasic Quarter Century Club. The Rev. Larry Smith will be the officiantat the 10 a.m. Tuesday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.Burial will be in Kansas Cemetery, Bettsville, where military gravesideservices will be conducted by the United Veterans Council. Visitationwill be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may bemade to the American Heart Association or the American LungAssociation."
