Research Notes

  • Anderson and Smith (2009)4 claim that Benoni Twitchell, b abt 1682, is the son of William Allen and Abiel Twitchell, the unmarried sister of William's wife, Elizabeth (Twitchell) Allen. It is not clear to me at this time how they came to the conclusion that William is his father. More research needed. --Cos1776 21:47, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

"3 Elizabeth Twitchell (Benjamin1), daughter of Benjamin Twitchell and Mary (Riggs) Twitchell, was born, in all probability, in Dorchester, Mass., in 1648. She removed with her father and others of the family to Lancaster, and later to Medfield, Mass., where, in 1688, she married William Allen or Allyn. According to the historian of Medfield her father had settled at the 'Farms' in that settlement. She died in 1717, and her husband married Abiel Barber."
