    Elizabeth was born in Hoffen, Alsace-Lorraine, Germany (now France)and came with her family to the new world between 1741-1743 and her parents (Ulrich Stephan and Anna Marie Schirmer) settled in Lebanon Township of Lancaster County, PA. She married George Wampler, Sr., on August 5, 1758, in Lebanon Twp. of Lancaster County, PA. Her grave marker while still standing stated, "She was born in High Germany." They moved to Wythe County, VA, in 1783 and he became a wealthy land owner.
