- The Ancestor Table of Frank Norton Dorlan, published in TAG, p. 39:181, includes Nathan Champney (1733-1770, Cambridge) and Elizabeth Reed (1736-1790, Charlestown). [It is frustrating that such a fine magazine allowed such a practice without documentation: e.g. in this case, this couple is listed as parents of Nathan Champney 1754-1827, whose birth is 6 years before their marriage!] This contributor obviously believes the Cambridge death record for "CHAMPNEY, Elizabeth, wid. of ---, Sept. 22, 1790. CR1" applied to her. However, it seems odd that Elizabeth does not appear to be mentioned in her mother's will dated 1769. [Note: Source:Genealogical Quarterly Magazine (Eben Putnam), Vol. 3, p. 232, appears by its ambiguous phrasing to turn a reference to granddaughter Elizabeth Osborn into a reference to daughter Elizabeth Osborn, but neither Source:Wyman, Thomas Bellows. Probate Records 1648--1924, Case 18568, support such a reading, nor would her name be Elizabeth Osburn in 1769.] With all the confusion here, more evidence would be useful.
