Bullard and Allied Families claims that she was the daughter of John Moore and Elizabeth Whale, but NEHGS Register volume 58, p. 176, makes a strong case that Elizabeth Whale, dau of Philemon Whale, was likely a second, later wife, and not mother of Elizabeth (and a son John) because neither were mentioned in Elizabeth Whale's father's will, but four other children were so named.

Unsourced researchers claim she was born 10 Jan 1628/1629 in Henham, Essex, England.

Note: While the comment about the will of Philemon Whale still seems to apply, current thinking is that John Moore's second wife was not Philemon Whale's daughter, but his step-daughter (AKA, daughter-in-law). See, for example, Source:The Genealogist (American Society of Genealogists), p. 6:138. The widow of Henry Rice, Elizabeth Rice, m. Philemon Whale in 1621, and they had a daughter Sarah in 1622. Since the most likely time frame places John Moore marriage to his second wife in 1638, it is not likely they could have had a daughter Elizabeth who was old enough to get married then. It is far more likely that Elizabeth was from Elizabeth Frost's first marriage to Henry Rice, albeit living in Philemon Whale's household. Henry and Elizabeth Rice had a daughter Elizabeth who was baptized at Stanstead 18 Nov 1612. --Jrich 17:34, 4 January 2009 (EST)
