Betsy went to the U.S. Govt. High School in Washington, D.C., and graduated in Sociology from Rockford College, IL, in 1950. Working for the Girl Scouts, she was sent to Okinawa as an organizer, where she met Claude "Buzz" Cane, who was working for American Express. They honeymooned in Hong Kong. After their return Buzz worked for the Christian Science Monitor in Boston and Betsy for Digital Equipment Co. in library research. She obtained a Masters degree in Library Sciences from Simmons College, and lived in Sudbury, MA.
