'SAMUEL [child of Job and Sarah Judkin], sawyer, born Boston, MA 27 November 1638 (BRC 9:6); probably fell at Medfield during King Philip's War with Capt. Turner in February of 1676; married as her first husband 25 March 1667 ELIZABETH LEAVITT, baptized Hingham, MA 28 April 1644 (Savage), supposed to have died 4 February 1688/9 (History of Hingham), but [according to a deposition by neighbors in October 1697, died] summer of 1697 (Suffolk File #3551), daughter of John and Mary (_____) Leavitt.'
[Note: the Hobart Journal, transcribed in NEHGR, p. 121:273, says Elizabeth Leavitt d. 4 Feb 1688/89. As the History of the Town of Hingham shows no Elizabeth in its coverage of the Leavitt family that was born in time to die on this date except this one, and although she should have been known as Elizabeth Judkins at the time, she was at one time known to Peter Hobart as Elizabeth Leavitt, clearly they assumed it referred to her. It is not known whom it refers to, though based on this source, it is not this Elizabeth...]
