Oliver Wolcott, (1726-97), a graduate of Yale, was appointed commissioner of Indian affairs for the northern department by the Continental Congress. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He divided his time between serving in Congress, recruiting troops and rose from the rank of captain of militia to major general. He was born in Windsor; died in Litchfield, Conn. Also Nos. 1457, 4035, 9230, 29389. [p.146] Frederick Wolcott, (1767-1837), when a lad, melted bullets of the equestrian statue of King George for the Continental army. He was born and died in Litchfield, Conn. Joshua Huntington, (1757-1821), entered the army as lieutenant and rose to the rank of colonel. He was born and died in Norwich, Conn. Charles Seymour, (1738-1802), commanded a company under Col. Thomas Belden in the Connecticut militia. He was born and died in Hartford, Conn. Also Nos. 2311, 10302, 24346, 30604, 31793. John Brinckerhoff, (1702-85), was a patriot whose house at Fishkill, was headquarters for Washington. Adrian Martense Brinckerhoff, (1754-1835), served as quartermaster in the Dutchess Co., New York militia, 1775.

Wolcott, his wife. Gr-granddaughter of Frederick Wolcott and Elizabeth Huntington, his wife. Gr-gr-granddaughter of Joshua Hunting and Hannah (Huntington), his wife; Oliver Wolcott and Laura Collins, his wife. Gr-gr-gr-granddaughter of Jabez Huntington and Elizabeth Tracy Backus (1721-65), his wife, m. 1741 (parents of Hannah). Jabez Huntington (1719-86) was a prominent member of the Committee of Safety when he was appointed major-general of militia, 1776. He was born and died in Norwich. Oliver Wolcott (1726-97) was a delegate to the Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He commanded fourteen regiments of Connecticut militia, ordered for the defense of New York. He died in Litchfield, Conn. Joshua Huntington (1751-1820) commanded one hundred Norwich boys in Putnam's brigade for the defense of Boston. He served in the same brigade at New York, and was in the Jersey Campaigns. In 1777, he superintended the building of the frigate �The Confederacy.� He was born in Norwich, Conn.
