Elizabeth Harry was born on 31st January 1814 and baptised the following month at Saltash in Cornwall, daughter of Mary Ann Harry, formerly Tucker, and her husband John Harry, a labourer and waterman. Elizabeth appears to have been the second of six children, although two of her younger siblings died young.
On 23rd October 1837, aged 23, Elizabeth married a basket maker named Henry Kitt. They appear to have had five children together. The 1841 census finds Elizabeth and Henry living at Oxford Row, to the north-west of Plymouth's town centre. Living with them was Elizabeth's cousin Sarah Harry, whose father, Robert, was the brother of Elizabeth's father, John.
By 1850 they were living at 11 Claremont Street, just around the corner from Oxford Row. They appear to have lived at 11 Claremont Street for the rest of their lives. Elizabeth's brother William Richard Harry was living there with them in 1850 at the time of his marriage. Each census from 1851 to 1881 finds Elizabeth and Henry living at 11 Claremont Street. Back in Saltash, Elizabeth's father died in 1855. Her mother, Mary, appears in the 1861 census living alone in Saltash, but subsequently moved to live with Elizabeth and her family at 11 Claremont Street, where Mary died in 1864.
Henry died in 1882. Elizabeth survived him by less than a year and died in 1883, aged 69.
