In the 1850 US census, the Elijah Seaver family resided in Gill, Franklin county, MA. The household included Elijah (age 44, farmer, $500 in real property, born MA), Marilla (age 37, birthplace not noted), Nathaniel (age 14, born MA), Sarah (age 7, born MA), Charles R. Alma and Abby Seaver, children of Elijah Seaver and his wife of Gill, were adopted by Elisha and Martha Clap of Gill in 1857, and their names were changed to Alma and Abby Clap (Franklin County (Massachusetts) Probate Records, Probate Packet #4,179, Probate docket transcribed from FHL Microfilm 0,854,377, provided by Margaret Jenks).

In the 1860 US census, Sylvia Seaver (age 45, born MA) resided in Gill, Franklin County, MA with her step-daughter, Sarah Seaver (age 18, born MA) in the house of Elvin Lyons. In the 1870 US census, Sylvia Seaver (age 62, keeping house, born MA) resided in Bernardston, Franklin county, MA with her step-daughter, Sarah Seaver (age 25, at home, born MA) and Sheldon Parmenus (age 46, laborer, born MA).
