"Captain Elias Littlefield owned at leat one of the wharves at the end of Wharf Street in the Bay Village. He lso owned an interest, in 1866, in the sloop A.M.P., valued at $175. Among other vessels owned in part by Captain Littlefield were the schooner Addie Clement, built 1868 at Penobscot; the Diadem, built at Prospect in 1846; the M.F. Varnum, built 1858 at Penobscot; and the Medora, built 1848 at Penobscot.

The brig Emeline, built at Nobleboro in 1832, was one of the few square riggers owned in part by Captain Littlefield. His name is written large in the maritime history of Penobscot and can be found on many other vessels owned within the community." -The Castine Patriot," "Standing before The Mast" By Mark E.
