"There is no doubt that Eleanor (Watts) Browne married twice after her first husband's death, yet the Middletown vital records show that Eleanor, wife of Nathaniel Browne, died on September 28, 1703. The original vital records are grouped in families, not entry by entry as the events occur, and possibly this method accounts for the use of the surname Browne in this case."
