WESTBROOK - Elenor M. Wardwell, 72, of Louise St., died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at the Maine Veterans Nursing Home. She was born in Howland, the daughter of Frank and Esther Sibley Bean. She lived in Greenbush and graduated from Old Town High School before moving to Westbrook 40 years ago. Elenor worked for Portland Copper and then at Benoits Clothing Store as a payroll clerk. After retiring, she became a CNA and did private duty nursing. She also did volunteer work for the Westbrook Food Pantry and the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough. She was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Andrews Post 17; the VFW Post 6859; and was Grand President of the 40-8 La Femmes Cabane 1003 in Portland. She enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, crocheting, and reading. Elenor is survived by her husband, Frederick Wardwell of Westbrook; a son, William Wardwell of Windham; a daughter, Denise Joy of Scarborough; a sister, Elaine Gray of Frankfort; and four grandchildren, Kelly and Ryan Joy, and Billy and Erin Wardwell. Visiting hours will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday.
