Eileen was the youngest of three daughters born to Joseph Moran and Marguerite Gallagher. When she was baptized, the church would not allow her parents to use the name Eileen, since it was not a saint's name, so they put her mother's name, Marguerite, on the baptismal certificate, with Eileen as a middle name. However, her actual name was just Eileen, with no middle name.

Eileen grew up in a double block on the corner of Pierce Street and Rutter Avenue in Kingston, Pennsylvania, which the family shared with another family, the Brennans. Eileen was very close to the Brennan children, especially Jack, Mary Beth, and Martin Brennan. She graduated from Kingston High School in 1956, and she took a few classes at the Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Business. She later moved to New York City, then Bergen, New Jersey. While in the NYC area, she worked as the executive secretary to the Vice President of Fawcett Publishing. She later moved back to Kingston, PA, because he father became ill with Parkinson's Disease. On December 27, 1969, she married Alfred Yusinskas at St. Ignatius Church in Kingston, PA. The day they were married, there was a blizzard. They had to walk to the church, and the wedding cake was brought to her parent's house on a sled. They honeymooned nearby at the Sportsman's Lodge in the Poconos for a few days because the weather was so bad they couldn't travel any further.

In the 1970s, she opened a used Book Store called the Book Swap, which remained in business long after her death. She co-owned it with her sister Katherine. It was located originally in Wyoming, PA. It later moved to Edwardsville, PA and a second branch opened in Scranton, PA. In the 1980s, she opened a silk flower/plant shop called the Silk Greenhouse, which closed after a couple of years. In the late 1980s, she worked as a Data Transcriber for the Social Security Administration. At the time of her death, she was a Ward Clerk for the Veteran's Administration.

In late 1991, she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, the symptoms of which appeared some 4 years earlier, but were mistaken for allergies. She passed away after 2 months in the ICU unit at Geisinger Hospital in Danville.

Eileen loved to travel. Although finances didn't allow much international travel, no more than a few months went by without her travelling to nearby cities, and every year she took her family to Florida. Eileen had a life-long love of books, which she passed on to her children. She dreamed one day of writing one herself, but that dream went unfulfilled. Eileen believed that she lived during one of the best times in history, and that she witnessed wonderful changes in society from her youth to adulthood.
