Visitation for Effie Kamstra of Lynden will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Lynden, with the Rev. Paul Hansen officiating. Mrs. Kamstra died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden. She was 101. Born Nov. 25, 1897, to Pieter and Eke Zylstra Weg in Holland, she moved to the United States when she was 13. On Feb. 4, 1920, she married Harry Kamstra in Bigelow, Minn., and helped him farm. In 1938, they moved to Whatcom County and continued to farm on West Wiser Lake Road. He died in 1960. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and playing Scrabble. Her brothers Dick, Sam, Peter and Ike Weg preceded her in death. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
