Two Probable Wives of Edward Hogan

Based upon land records in 1752 in Augusta County, Virginia, Edward Hogan's will, and land records in Rutherford County, North Carolina, it appears that Edward Hogan was married twice. His first wife (and probably the mother of Mary 'Polly' and Edward), was named Sarah. Edward's wife in 1788 in a conveyance of property in Rutherford County, North Carolina and in his will probated in 1794, was named Christian. When Edward's first wife, Sarah, died and when he re-married to his 2nd wife Christian, is unknown. (needs research)

Coincidentally, a neighbor of Edward Hogans in Augusta County, William Miller, died in 1754, leaving his wife Christian (listed in land records) and at least two sons, William, Jr. and David. It is certainly possible that Edward Hogan may have married William Miller's widow, but additional research and sources are needed to prove this possibility.
