Edward Grant was baptised on 20th March 1859 at Sidlesham in Sussex, the eldest child of a charwoman named Julia Grant, formerly Lambard, and her husband Thomas Grant, a fisherman. Edward appears with his parents at Sidlesham in the 1861 census. Ten years later he was staying with his paternal grandmother on census night. In 1881 and 1891 he was living as a young man at home with his parents at Sidlesham and working as a fisherman. By 1901 he was living with his widower father in the nearby parish of Selsey and working as an agricultural labourer.
Edward has yet to be researched after 1901.
