In 1850 he was living near Orsamus Wilson who was his uncle though perhaps two years his elder.
About 1867 he was living near Samuel Wilson who was his younger brother.

His father purchased land in New York in 1806. Other records say the the family moved from Vermont to New York in 1808.
Possibly he was born in Vermont and moved to New York soon after.
