    "Eben Courtney Babbidge bakery worker, active in boy scounts

    Eben Courtney Babbidge, 63, died Sunday at his home following a brief illness.

    He was born in Islesboro, a son of Eben and Edith (Leach) Babbidge.

    For 27 years Mr. Babbidge worked at F.R. LePage Bakeries, retiring in 1996. Previously he worked at Calderwood Bakery.

    He was a member of the Woodfords Congregational Church and was a committee chairperson for many Boy Scout events. He enjoyed the ocean, gardening, bird watching, country music and traveling.

    Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Emmagene Perry Babbidge of Portland; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Lynn) DiPierro of Portland; two sons, Scott of Windham and Craig of Portland; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Caro) Wentworth of Scarborough and Mrs Wallace (Charlotte) Wyman of Windham; five grandchildren, an uncle and several nieces and nephews.

    Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. A funderal service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Susan Gilpin officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery."
