Earl Windle, 85, of Findlay, died at 7:18 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at The Heritage Legacy. Earl was born in Hardin County, Ohio on August 7. 1929 to the late William Roy and Inez (Flowers) Windle. He was a graduate of Forest High School where he played football and basketball. Earl married D. Jean McDaniel on May 10, 1951 and she survives. Also surviving are three children, Dan (Susan) Windle of Dublin, Ohio, Steve (Ann) Windle of Hilliard, Ohio, and Nancy (Jeff) Stover of Tiffin, Ohio, six grand children, Shawna (Chris Minor) Windle, Stephanie (Elliot) Vrana, Tyler Stover, Kacie Stover (Matt), Torie Windle, Kristina Windle, three step-grandchildren, Libby Butler, Maggie Butler, Rachel Butler, and one great granddaughter, Brynlee Vrana. Also surviving is a sister Marcella (Don) Woodard of Mt. Victory, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a brother, Karl Windle and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Windle. Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company as a tuber operator after 37 years. He was a member of the Salem Cass United Methodist Church, the Findlay Branch # 172 of the Korean War Veterans, and Hillcrest Golf Club. Years ago he was involved in youth baseball for over 15 years, as a coach and later formed the age 9-10 baseball league. Earl volunteered for the Red Cross Bloodmobile. He took pride in spending time with his family having built a family vacation home in Michigan for all his family to enjoy. He was an avid fan of OSU Football, as well as the Cleveland Browns and Indians. Visitation will be held at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME FROM 6-8 P.M. on Monday March 2, 2015, and also from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the funeral home officiated by the Rev. Ray Kane with military rites conducted by the Hancock Veterans Memorial Squad. It was Earl's wish to be cremated and a private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Flag City Honor Flight, P.O. 885, Findlay, Ohio 45839. Online condolences may be sent via www.kirkpatrickbehnke.com.
