Duane M. Lane enlisted in the Army on March 27, 1941, and was assigned to the 14th Cavalry at Fort Riley, Kansas. Duane served with the 711th Tank Batallion following the Army's abandonment of the use of horses. Duane servied for 18 months in the Pacific Theater of Operations, World War II.
