Dorothy Marie Blietz, 81, of Monona, IA, died Wednesday, November 20, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, IA, following a short illness. She was born May 21, 1921, in rural Monona to Henry and Hattie (Engelhart) Jarms. She graduated from Monona High School in 1939.

Dorothy was a homemaker who loved quilting, gardening, playing cards and spending time with family. She cooked for a number of years at White Springs.

She was united in marriage to Giles Blietz on July 11, 1939, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona. Seven children were born to this union.

Survivors include five children, Roger (Helen) Blietz, Cedar Rapids, Marleen (Gary) Moritz, Monona, Dean Blietz, Fort Myers, FL, Rick (Laurie) Blietz, McGregor, Kevin Blietz, Albuquerque, NM; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Helen Jarms, Monona, and Vera Wirkler, Postville.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Giles on March 26, 1999, two children in infancy, Elaine and Gary, two brothers, Harold and Harvey Jarms and two sisters, Marguerite Geraghty and Marie Jarms.

Dorothy Marie Blietz, 81, of Monona, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, in Good Samaritan Center, Postville, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, St. Patrick Catholic Church, by the Rev. John Moran. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
