Dorothy E. Wardwell, 90, wife of the late Garfield Wardwell, died Nov. 22, 2001, at Caribou. She was born in Perham, Feb. 24, 1911, the daughter of Fred and Crissie (Carr) Blackstone. Mrs. Wardwell was a graduate of the Aroostook State Normal School and she taught school in Woodland for several years.She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Cherry Wardwell of Monticello, Ga.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marilee Conroy and Rosalie and James Doughman, all of Woodland; 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She will also be fondly remembered by her many foster children, whom she and Garfield cared for Mrs. Wardwell as predeceased by her husband, Garfield in 1991; a daughter-in-law, Francine Wardwell; a son-in-law, Ralph Conroy; and a granddaughter, Lori-Jo Conroy. Graveside funeral services will be held in the spring at the Fairview Cemetery, Perham. Arrangements by the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou. -Bangor Daily News 24 November 2001
