From losing her mother as a baby, to being a dust bowl survivor who picked cotton at 5. She gave myself and my siblings a beautiful childhood and always tried to be there for us. Simultaneously giving us freedom to explore the world. She was a Christian and I know she is setting at the right hand of Jesus, waiting to see her beloved siblings. Your prayers are appreciated."

I'd appreciate it if you all could say a little prayer in her name, and say a little prayer for her family. But I'd especially appreciate it if an extra special prayer were said for my step dad Bill Steelman her husband of more than 30 years. He has loved her like no other and he has stood by her side proudly, loyally, faithfully, diligently and fiercely through trials, tragedies and triumphs. When the time comes for my mother to be called Home it will be especially hard for him, he will need and he deserves all the love, support, good and strength that can be sent his way. Thank you

A Realtor, she was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Okemah, Okla.

Funeral services and burial will be in March in Los Osos, Calif. Cremation in Katy, Texas. Published in The Yuma Sun on Jan. 8, 2015
