From Sprague Families in America, by W. V. Sprague, page 11 Dorcas Sprague married Ralph Earle on 10-26-1659 and settled in Dartmouth. She was married to Ralph Earle (son of Ralph Earle and Joan Savage of Rhode Island) before 26 Oct 1659 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI. Ralph Earle(26) was born on 22 Apr 1632 in Saint Michael's, Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire, England. (27) He died in 1716 in Dartmouth, Bristol Co., MA. From George Sawyer Dorcas (Sprague) Earle and Ralph Earle settled in Dartmouth. From Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Island, by Savage, page 69 1658, May 11. Portsmouth, Freeman 1659, October 26. Francis Sprague of Duxbury conveyed to his son-in-law, Ralph Earle, Jr., 1/2 share of land at Coakset and Acushena. At this time Ralph Earle moved to his new land in Dartmouth. 1688, June 13. Dartmouth, Mass., he deeded son Ralph, half of westernmost Island called Elizabeth Island, after his decease. 1689, October 20. Deeded son, William 100 acres in Dartmouth. 1692, June 10. He and wife Dorcas deeded youngest son, Joseph 200 acres in Dartmouth and salt marsh, had of father Sprague. 1693, July 24. Deeded son, William, 1/4 of the island called by the Indians Pocatahunka. 1747, January 6. Administration to son, John Earle. Dorcas Sprague and Ralph Earle had four children. |
