Donald Joseph Lestina, 80, of Monona, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 15 2011 at the Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg, Iowa. Don was born on July 8, 1931, rural Monona, Iowa, to Ben and Agnes (Lotza) Lestina. He graduated from Monona High School, Monona, Iowa. Don was united in marriage to Clothilda "Tillie" Eilers at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garnavillo, Iowa, on October 4, 1955. Two daughters, Connie and Pauline, were born to this union. Don worked for many years at Culligan in Elkader, Iowa. Then he was employed at Huniker Chevrolet in Monona, Iowa He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and spending time with his family, He was especially proud of his 100% Bohemian heritage. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Tillie Lestina, Monona; two daughters, Connie (Douglas) Schlein, Monona, Pauline (Dennis) Dettman, Watson, and four grandchildren, Darien Schlein, Monona, Candice Schlein, Cedar Rapids, Derek Dettman, Monona, and Stacy Dettman, Iowa City. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Agnes Lestina, and two brothers, Wayne and Benjie Lestina. _________________________
MONONA, Iowa - Donald Lestina, 80, of Monona, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at the Guttenberg Care Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Monona. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona.
