MANSELL, CAPTAIN DAVID, 24 July, 1672; 4 September, 1672.
In perfect memory and sence yet sick and weake in body.
I make and depute my well beloved friend and nearest neighbour William Wheeler my full and whole Executor putting my whole trust in him my said Executor to take on himself the same charge and Care to bring up and educate my godchild David and to take to himself all the said David ffristo his Estate which I now possess or might possess and retaine until the said ffristo be come of age if lived. His Executor to pay all his lawful debts.
To daughter Mary my sealed ring.
To my grandchild Mansell Blagrave and his heirs and successors for ever one tract of land adjoining the land of Mr Robert Bayly on which land standeth a house called the block house there being neere 200 acres.
To my said Executor William Wheeler the 1/2 part of my Estate that shall appeare to remaine after these debts and legacies be deducted out of the whole.
To my said grandchild Mansell Blagrave the other 1/2 part of my Estate that shall remain after my debts and legacies be deducted as above said out of the whole. The remainder of my Estate to William Wheeler and Mansell Blagrave or their heirs or assigns either to be divided or sold by my aforesaid Executor or by him my said Executor to be retained putting in security for the 1/2 part to be delivered when my said grandchild cometh to be of age- or whensoever my said Executor shall see best for both him and my grandchilds advantage.

On 30 Oct. 1659 Thomas Maddison and John Scott witnessed a deed from Capt. David Mansell of 270 acres to John Chin, Quintyn Sherman and Thomas Dean. [(Old) Rappahannock County, Virginia, Deed Book __, page __]


On 26 May 1661 Thomas Maddison and Anna, his wife, of Farnham Creek, carpenter, deeded 250 acres Richard Powell lying towards the head of said Creek, adjacent to Mr. Thomas Griffith, deceased, the land of Madyson in breath and in length, along the marked trees of John Scott. KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I DAVID MANSELL of the County of Rappa. in Virga. for & in consideration of the sum of Eight hundred pounds of tobo. in hand paid & received of JOHN JACOB do hereby bargaine & sell enfeoff & alienate & hath by these presents bargained sold enfeoffed & alienated unto JOHN JACOB his heirs Exrs. KNOW ALL MEN by these pntes that I DAVID MANSELL of the County of Rappa, in Virginia Plantr. for sundry causes herein menconed doe heerby bargaine and sell unto JOHN ARNELL of the aforesd County Plantr, a tract or pcell of land conteynin g two hundred acres or thereabouts scytuated & bounded as Foll, Beginning at the lyne of ROBERT FRISTOW & so running upp a swamp to the Cornr, tree of ROBT. BAYLEY & from thence running along the Lyne of ROBT, BAYLEY to another cornr. tree of the sd BAYLEYs standing by an INDIAN FIELD and from thence to the out Lyne of GEORGE HOWELL & to the place where it first Begann To Have and To Hold the sd Land whether more or lesse to him the sd JOHN ARNELL his heirs for Ever with all Rights & proffitts thereto belonging to me by Vertue of a Pattent graunted for the same bearing date the 7th 9bris 1664 the sd JOHN ARNELL yeilding payeing yearely its accustomed quittrents as is therein expressed, It is provided & agreed upon by & Between the sd pties that if it shall soe happen that the sd JOHN ARNELL doe outlive the sd DAVID MANSELL that then the sd ARNELL shall enjoy the sd land as above menconed But in case the sd DAVID MANSELL outliveing the sd JOHN ARNELL that then the sd Land shall revert unto the sd DAVID MANSELL againe any thing herein expressed to the Contrary notwithstanding. It is further agreed between the sd pties that in consid: of the prmises the sd JOHN ARNELL is forthwth to settle upon the sd land cleering & fencing a Corne Feild pt whereof (which may containe five thousand cornhills) the sd DAVID MANSELL is to have to his pticular use for two years & what more land shall for the future be cleered by the sd JOHN ARNELL or DAVID MANSELL the same to bee proporconable between them according to the number of Servants that they or either of them shall have during both their lives of the abovesd plies But after the Death of either of them all the land to bee enjoyed according to the tenor hereof and likewise it is Further agreed that in consid: of the prmises the sd JOHN ARNELL doe heerby oblige himselfe diligently carefully to looke after & to his power preserve what Cattle & hoggs shall be brought upon the sd Plantacon belonging to the sd DAVID MANSELL & to provide sufficient Fother for the abovesd Cattle for the terme of yeares. In Consid: of which the sd JOHN ARNELL is to have an Equall Benefits with the sd MANSELL of the Coves by their milke for the terme of two yeares & noe longer.
