David Seymour Dill, born March 30, 1858, child number 8 of George and Chatrin. David married Cora Etta Miranda Wolfinger on Feb 22, 1883 in Richfield Center, OH.

David, a lutheran, and Cora, a baptist, both had high school educations. They both taught in OH before marriage. They moved from Ohio and Kansas as bride and groom when David was 20. David was self-educated in law. They lived in Kansas for 15 years, where David was a district judge. David then went to Oklahoma as general attorney of Hutchinson Southern Railroad, later Orient RR. He then resigned and went to Oklahoma to become a banker. Oklahoma Territory was opened for settlement in 1893 (one of the later Oklahoma land runs; there were several). David and Cora decided to make a claim, with the Wendell family. The men were on horseback, and the women and children followed in a covered wagon. They made a claim in Medford, OK. David staked out two towns, Dill City and Lone Wolf, OK. David decided to adventure to Hobart, OK, in 1902, when it was established. He got a corner lot, and with his brother-in-law Henry Wolfinger, built City State Bank. Six weeks later it burned down. He rebuilt it and became president of the bank. The bank changed names later to City National, and still later Guarantee. David had his law office upstairs. He lived at 117 Northwestern Avenue. Neither David nor his wife Cora wanted to change religions, so they compromised and both became Presbyterians, regularly attending church in Hobart. David was wealthy, highly respected, and known to many as Judge DS Dill. The bank was successful and a central institution of the town. Details are in (Pioneering in Kiowa County, Kiowa County Historical Society, Hobart, OK, 73651, published around 1975 – 1980). David died in Hobart, OK, January 29, 1914.
