  5.   Commentary on Source:Church, John A. Descendants of Richard Church of Plymouth, Mass, p. 3-4, and NEHGR, "Garrett Church of Watertown, Mass.", by Robert M. and Helen C. Search, Vol. 123, p. 182 and following, which relies heavily on the above. The arguments of these sources depend entirely on the unexplained assertion that the son of Garret Church was in Killingly by 1708. Killingly Land Records are (viewable at Family History Centers), which is currently an unavailable option during the Covid crisis. Take this assertion away, and all facts suggests the son of Garrett moved to Marlborough where he lived until 1719, and hence appear to be the David Church tailor warned out of Providence in that year. The David of Marlborough is a different man than the David of Killingly, as these sources assert, but as he sells land in Watertown while "of Marlborough", has a wife Mary, and is a tailor, he appears, as far as the deeds describe him, to match the man who sold the parcels given by Garret to his son David, who was a tailor with wife Mary (Middlesex Deed Vol. 10, p. 576 above). Everything found in Middlesex deeds is consistent with David of Marlborough being the one who is son of Garrett. Deeds also show a deed of David's where a witness is David Church Jr. or Sr. [unreadable, but presumably Jr.], so he did have a son David. This is in 1712, so the son does not appear to be the David of Killingly either. This David is presumably the David Church glazier, who has one grantee and one grantor deed, while all the others are tailor or weaver, except the last one which is the generic yeoman (landowner).
Given the deed in 1719 which sells land received from uncle James Wood, David's wife at that point is the widow Mary (Howe) Wilder, presumably marrying the father based on her birth date, not a young man as surmised in the above sources. Another deed in 1709 shows he had a wife Mary at that point, which would have been his first wife still alive prior to his 1710 marriage to Mary Wilder.
There is nothing in any of the Watertown deeds to indicate there was more than one David Church in Watertown (i.e., no senior, junior or other identification). Even the above sources suggest the son of Garrett moved to Marlborough. But there is no indepth analysis of the deeds which appear to show a continuity of residence until 1719, leaving the alleged connection to the Killingly man unexplained.
