Dr. David1 Bennett. At a legal meeting held 21 Feb., 1672, the Town of Rowley granted him three acres of land to build upon. On this grant he built his house and it was his home through life. Of his first we find no mention. From 1672, he was, so far as is known, the only physician practicing in Rowley, until his son, William, was able to assist him. … Dr. Bennett was in the Canada Expedition, 1690 (Mass. Archives, 27:46). He died 4 Feb., 1718-19, aged 103 years (G. S.). His will, dated 21 Jan. 1717-8, mentions son, Spencer Bennet, to have all the land in the marsh-field; son, William Bennet, to have all the great swamp lot; daughter, Sarah Decker, 20s.; daughter, Elizabeth Scott, all movables and all the housing set on land of son-in-law, John Scott (Essex Probate, 312:492-3).
