David Ashley was a soldier in the Revolution. His name appears on the roll of Capt. Reuben Munn's company, Col. Nicholas Dike's regiment, dated at Roxbury, MA, September 17, 1776. On September 18, 1777, he was commissioned Second-Lieutenant of the 14th Company, (Capt. John Morgan) 3d Hampshire County Regiment (Col. John Mosley) in the Massachusetts Militia. Three days later he enlisted in Capt. Levi Ely's company in the same regiment and served in "an expedition northward" He and his wife are buried in Ashleyville Cemetary.
