    Dr. Daniel Porter [Sr.] of Farmington, was licensed to practice physic and chirurgery by the General Court in 1654. His salary was, for his "encouragement in attending the service of the country, " increased in 1671 from six to twelve pounds a year, and he was "advised to instruct some meet person in his art."
