Poeter says Cornelius was a merchant in NYC and a partner in the firm of Comegys & Vansant. Further she says he married Sophia Charlotte Brown in NYC Sep 1778. NYC records are silent as to any Comegys involvement in this time period and they are believed to be in error.

Served in Capt Jonathan Caldwell's Company in DE as a Fifer.
