Daily Times-News, The Saturday, February 09, 1974 HAW RIVER CLARENCE R. SYKES. 67. of Rt. 1, Haw River, died Friday afternoon following a sudden illness. A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs.. Pauline Ellis SYKES, who survives, the son of the late Hilliary SYKES and Mrs.. Mary Coble SYKES, SYKES was a retired hosiery employee, and a member of Community Baptist Church. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs.. Louise Isley, Graham: son, Charlie D. SYKES. Snow Camp; step- daughter, Mrs.. Gwyn Scott, Irenton, Mich.; stepsons, Ernest and Larry Chappell, both of Florida; sisters. Mrs.. Virgil Staley and Mrs.. Flavious Smith, both of Julian, and Mrs.. Charlie Smith. Liberty: nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 4 p m.: Monday at Community Baptist Church. The Rev. Ralph Rivers, pastor, will conduct the service. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. The body will remain at the Rich and Thompson Funral Home in Graham. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
