OBITUARY FROM BURLINGTON TIMES-NEWS;

BURLINGTON — Mrs.. Clara Walker Isley, 89, formerly of West Davis Street, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 1999, at the Wynwood retirement center in Greensboro after several months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Randolph I. Isley and the daughter of Mr. Currie Walker and Mrs.. Hattie Richmond Walker, both deceased. She was a member of the Down to Earth Club and a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was treasurer of Women of the Church for 20 years. Survivors include a son, Mr. Randolph I. Isley Jr.. of Elon College; a sister, Mrs.. Evelyn Trudy of Baton Rouge, La.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs.. Annie Owens and Miss Margaret Elizabeth Walker; two brothers, Mr. Richmond Walker and Mr. James Walker; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Charles Williams, pastor. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and at other times at 4565 Reid Road, Elon College. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27405; or to First Presbyterian Church, 508 W. Davis St., Burlington, N.C. 27215.
