Facts and Events
A strong possibility for her parentage is (from 1880 census, Pittsburgh, PA, 360 Fleming Street, Ward 23, page 49): John Palmer, 37, clerk, b. PA; parents born Ireland Ophelia, 29, wife, b. LA; fb NY; mb England Harry M., son, 11, b. PA Clara E., dau, 8, b. PA Arthur C., son, 6, b. PA Laurence, son, 3, b. PA Baby, dau, 1, b. PA The reason I believe this is accurate is because the 1900 census indicates that Clara was born in Pennsylvania, that her father was also, and that her mother was born in Louisiana. Helen (Hill) Dick (m. Palmer M. Dick) told the story to her daughters that Clara Palmer and one of her sisters died together, falling down the stairs. Helen believed that Clara's son, William A. Dick Jr., was instrumental in their deaths. References
