At least one son of John Shoup & Mary Messer went to Ohio -- I think it was Jacob, if I am remembering correctly. Anyway, there are notes with most of them. These Shoup/Shupe brothers & sisters came early to Westmoreland Co. from Bucks Co. PA, after their parents died. The early spelling used is Shoup, then it gets changed to Shupe in later Westmoreland records. The german spelling is mainly Schaub. If you need to check on my list of Shupes, you can go to http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com Enter my ID, jkw2, in the 2nd search window.

I have a book that gives baptisms at this Shoop Church -- "Early Church Records of Dauphin Co., PA" by F. Edward Wright, 1995, reprinted 2000. The Shoop church records are p. 17-22. Title of the list is "Shoop's Reformed Church Records". Listed are most of the children of Christopher Shupp & Rosina, except no Rosanna (#4) or Christopher (#7). Gives birth & baptism dates, sponsors. This shows that John Frederick was born July 14, 1785, bapt. July 24, 1786. Sponsors: John Martin Shell & wife Catharine. (this is on p. 19).

I see that the date given in your source below for John Frederick Shoop is May 25, 1771 -- so maybe this Fred., who apparently died in Susquehanna twp., Dauphin Co., is not the same as the one b. in 1785. Maybe the one who married Polly Garman IS your Frederick (& wife Margaret) who were in Westmoreland Co.
I can give you the complete details for all the children of Christopher & Rosina later, if you want that.
In a few weeks I will be having access to the book on PA births, Dauphin Co., by John T. Humphrey, 2005, which my local geneal. soc. has purchased & is now processing -- should be on the shelf in a few weeks. I will also look there for your Shoops.
