Depoy, Christopher - born September 1761, Reading, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, son of Isaac; family moved when soldier was a child to Rockingham County, Virginia, where he entered service in 1780; moved abt. 1813 to Buckskin Township, Ross County, Ohio, where Pensioned in 1833; Pennsylvania Dutch descent; brother of John; resided in Ohio in 1833; query letter in file states soldier died in April 1843, & buried Concord Township, Ross County, Ohio, near Austin. F-S2166, R799.

   1. CHRISTOPHER3 DEPOY (ISAAC2, CONRAD1 DUBOIS)1,2,3,4,5,6 was born 28 Sep 1761 in Reading, Berks, PA, and died 17 Apr 1843 in Ross Co. Ohio. He married EVA CATHARINEHAUER/ HOWARD 02 Mar 1785 in Rockingham, VA7, daughter of CHRISTOPHEL HAUER and ANNA LESSLE. She was born 16 Jul 1756 in Lancaster PA, and died 04 Jun 1808 in Rockingham,VA.
   
   Notes for CHRISTOPHER DEPOY:
   There is a serious error in the book by S.A.R. on Rev.War Patriots of
   Ross Co. Ohio, they say Christopher DePoy was never married, that is not
   correct, he was married. (Book to be corrected next printing per Robt.Fetters)
   Much of this mis-information began with a book on DePoy,DuBoy , DuBois,
   there is information on Christopher and the writer put down he never married.
   That carried on and then was picked up by a Miss Cornelia DuBois of New
   York when she wrote for pension information and I believe that is how it
   was then picked up in Ross Co. but we have proof of marriage records,
   (3) different ones, this error must be corrected for future generations.
   
   Various Spellings of his name are: Stophel, Christophel,Christoffel.
   
   He was married to Eva Catharine Howard, she was born 11 Jul 1756 and
   she died 4 Jun 1808. They had three (3) daughters.
