  9.   Family notes per User:White Creek.

CHRISTINA is somewhat of a mystery. How, and under what circumstances, she migrated to America, is not known. "Family history" says she came to America with only her sister Sophia, but some documents suggest she might have already been married to Charles (Karl) Prange. No immigration documents for the sisters have ever been found. Information says the sisters were very close.

When her sister Sophia died in 1888, Christina became a "surrogate" mother for Sophia's young children. Christina's home was only a mile or so from the Busking home. Emma Busking was only 12 years old, at the time of her mother's death. Christina's daughter, Emma Prange, had been married six years earlier. Perhaps Christina welcomed the responsibility of looking after her sister's children?

Following her (Emma) 1899 marriage in Indianapolis to Herman Lower; the couple was enumerated in the 1900 Federal Census in Wabash, Indiana. Their son Milford was born in Indianapolis in 1901, so they did not live in Wabash very long. The move back may have been because Emma wanted to be close to Christina when the baby was born? Christina lived at 1138 Southeastern Avenue, from before 1899 to 1909. The Lower family of Christina's niece Emma, lived at 1128 Southeastern Avenue in 1902. It is possible that Herman Lower was involved in the Prange grocery business, because Charles had died in 1898. Herman was originally trained in carpentry, later the grocery business became his principal occupation for most of the rest of his life. Perhaps he learned the grocery business from the Prange store?
