Acquisition of Land from Northern Neck Warrants & Surveys:

  • Christian Bowman, no warrant, date of survey - 8 Dec. 1749 - 13 Mar. 1749/50; 535 acres on North River of Shannandoa, bought of Doc't. Linn & within Hites claim, near Narrow Passage. From plat - land surveyed for Augustus Coffman, surveyed for Samuel Byrne, surveyed for said Christian Bowman & granted to Will'm. Hoober. CC - Joseph Langdon & Archibell Ruddel. Daniel Holeman present on survey. Surv. George Byrne.   • Christian Bowman, 28 Mar. 1750 - 1 Apr. 1750; 146 acres on North River of Shannandoah; in original warrant said land adj. Christian Bowman & Isaac Ruddel surveys. Included is a letter from Augustus Coffman, with his German signature, requesting deed in name of Christian Bowman to whom he had sold this land. From warrant - Augustus Coffman was original assignee & from Augusta Co. when he applied. CC - Hugh Deveney & Archibald Ruddle. Capt. John Funk present on Survey. Surv. George Byrne.
