On 31 Jan 1816 Hubbard Saunders, agent for Charlotte Dugger, widow and administrator of Thomas Dugger, deceased, of Sumner Co., TN, deeded 191 acres to Nathaniel Morris of Brunswick Co., VA for $477.50. The land was on Gravelly Run and subject to the life estate of Frances Brown, formerly Frances Dugger, widow of John Dugger, deceased who has possession of the premises. (This means Frances kept the land until her death.) This is the same land willed to Thomas Dugger by John Dugger Jr, his father. Witnessed by J. B. Rice, Richmond Dugger, R. Brown and Thomas Kirkland. (Brunswick Co., VA Deed Book 23 page 137). In Jan 1816 court Charlotte Dugger, administrator of Thomas Dugger, sued Richmond Dugger in his own right and also in his role as administrator of Daniel Dugger deceased. A commission was appointed to sell the slaves which John Dugger Sr left to Fanny Dugger. Charlotte received 1/3, Richmond received 1/3 in right of his purchase from James Dugger, and 1/3 went to Richmond Dugger as administrator of Daniel Dugger. (Brunswick Co., VA Order Book 26 page 444). In Feb 1816 court, Littleberry Rawlings sued Charlotte Dugger, administrator of Thomas Dugger, Nathaniel Morris, Henry Rose and Richmond Dugger in a chancery suit. (Brunswick Co., VA Order Book 26 page 454). In Mar 1816 court, Charlotte Dugger, administrator of Thomas Dugger again sued Richmond Dugger in his own right and also as administrator of Daniel Dugger. An account of the Negroes of John Dugger, deceased was included. Mary Dugger received Hannah and child. Henry Rose received Alfred. Richmond Dugger received Love. Elizabeth Stainback received Benjamin. (Brunswick Co., VA Order Book 26 page 36). On 10 Jul 1816 Wesley Dugger obtained a marriage bond in Sumner Co., TN to marry Charlotte Dugger. John Dugger (his brother) and Leonard Dugger (his father) were bondsmen. |
