DEATH WHOLLY UNEXPECTED --- Mr. Chas. Turcotte Served City Many Years. --- Found Unconscious After Attack Of Indigestion. --- Was Especially Popular In City Hall Circles. --- After being found unconscious in the bath room of his home at 13 First Avenue about 6.30 o'clock this morning Mr. Charles Emile Turcotte, aged 53 a repairer in connection with the city fire alarm system died in less than fifteen minutes. Death was due to acute indigestion.

He was around the house as usual last night and seemed to be in excellent health.

He generally rises about 6 o'clock and this morning was in his usual good spirits. He went to the bath room where his wife found him unconscious two minutes later.

Drs. F. L. Switzer and H. C. Church were quickly summoned, but though medical aid was available soon, nothing could be done for him and he died without regaining consciousness.

Mr. Emile Turcotte, or "Charlie," as he was familiarly known at the city hall, had been in the city service since 1874, thus probably serving longer than almost any other man in the Capital. He was well-known and popular.

Had Complained.

He generally enjoyed excellent health, and although he complained once or twice lately to members of his family of a slight pain in the chest, it was not regarded as serious and did not keep him from working.

The deceased leaves a wife; five sons; Emile, John, William, George and Albert; two daughters, Mrs. J. Walsh, and Mrs. H. Tressider; a mother, 3 brothers, Frank, Albert and Joseph, Refrew; and three sisters, Mrs. S. Carroll, Mrs. E. Larose, and Mrs. W. J. Jinks, Cleveland, Ohio. Unless otherwise designated all these relatives are Ottawans.

Mr. Turcotte attended St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the C.M.B.A.

The sudden death came as a great blow to the wife and other members of the family and they have the sympathy of many in their bereavement. --- The Evening Journal, Ottawa Thursday, April 14, 1910 Page 1
