A. Whiteside Esq. And old Mr. Johnson’s and we think favourable of the Road.”

This is the only time the "Jr." suffix has been applied to Charles Johnson, apparently to distinguish him from the "old" Mr. Johnson, presumably his father. Unlike Charles Jr., "old" Mr. Johnson was probably too old to be included on the work crew
