Technical Report – MOWA Band of Choctaw
The Frazier claim apparently refers to Charles Frazier, interpreter for the Choctaw Factory at St. Stephens, Washington County, Alabama (MOWA Pet. Narr. 1988, 12). He has not been documented as an ancestor of any nineteenth-century MOWA family. The first Frazier’s as marrying into the community was Irene Fraizer [sic] Lofton, ? 15, 1893 (Washington County Historical Society 1989, 232). There is a gap of 80 years between the appearance of Charles Frazier in the documents and the birth of Irene Fraizer.
2. Frazier Choctaw Family – List of Mixed Bloods The spelling of Charles Frazier as Frazer in the early records of the Choctaw Trading House is also suggestive of the Creek origins of this family.
