Charles was promoted to 1st Lieutenant during WWII. (Regt No. 42471) Charles Horatio ACHESON B.E.M. (British Empire Medal recipient)

Charles and his wife (Silvia Ethel) owned the Criterion Hotel in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Silva outlasted her husband and died at the grand old age of 80, in the Maida Vale Rest Home, 917 Devon Road, Bell Block, New Plymouth, on 18 April 1994.

All the ACHESON funerals in New Plymouth appear to have been handled by Vospers Funeral Home, 257 Devon Street East, New Plymouth 4310.
