Facts and Events
Celia Drake was baptised on 26th January 1817 at Bere Ferrers in Devon, daughter of Mary Drake, formerly Harris, and her husband John Drake, a husbandman. Celia was the second of seven children. Her mother died in 1832 when Celia was fifteen years old.
In 1840 Celia had a son named William Henry. Celia has not been found in the 1841 census, but her young son was living with Celia's father in Bere Ferrers.
In 1844 Celia was married at nearby Plymouth to Alfred Hatherley, who described himself as a tailor on their marriage certificate, but subsequently worked in the dockyards at Devonport. They appear to have had three children together in the late 1840s. The 1851 census finds them living at St Budeaux.
Celia died in Devonport in 1860, aged 43. Alfred remarried later that year.
