Facts and Events
One family history reports Catherine having twelve children. BIRTH: Catherine was born twelve miles south of Eakles Mills (near Sharpsburg, Maryland), where her father Andrew Butman lived and owned considerable real estate). The Butman (Putnam) name has also been spelled PUTNAM and BUTMAENNIN or BUTTMAN. Consider these spellings when looking for the family. 12:28, 28 October 2011 (EDT)12:28, 28 October 2011 (EDT)12:28, 28 October 2011 (EDT)~~ From Scott Boyd <rottnsox@earthlink.net> Sources and notes for Andreas BOUDEMONT (Catherine PUTMAN's father): Andreas and Catharina arrived at Philadelphia, PA, on the ship "Osgood," on 29 Sep 1750. They settled in Middletown Valley, Frederick County, MD. Andreas was naturalized on 24 Sep 1762, after baptism on 5 Sep 1762 by Reverend William Otterbein at the German Reformed Church of Frederick Town (witnessed by Thomas Schley and Peter Hergat). In 1770, they moved to Washington County, MD, south of Eakles' Mills, on a 50-acre tract called Root's Hill, purchased from Joseph CHAPLINE on 18 Dec 1769. Andreas later purchased a 92-1/4-acre tract called Partnership. Andreas' will was written on 4 Feb 1777, and probated on 14 Jun 1777. For Phillip BOUDEMONT (Andreas' father); Phillip's will mentions two sons that had settled in the new world. The book does not explain why Catherine's name is spelled differently than her fathers. There are other descendents who spelled it either PUTMAN, BOUDEMONT, or BUTTMAN. Again, no explanations provided. 12:28, 28 October 2011 (EDT)12:28, 28 October 2011 (EDT)Lana a2000 12:28, 28 October 2011 (EDT) _FSFTID: MFGK-34R References
