CATHERINE E. PERKINS, daughter of ABRAHAM T. PERKINS and HARRIET HOPPER, was born on 2 May 1827 at New York. The death certificate of Catherine's son Zenith Arthur lists her birthplace as Adrian, Michigan. The Parke LDS records list her birthplace as Valparaiso. 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1800 census data agrees she was born in New York. She moved to Adrian Michigan around age 8 and lived her adult life in Valparaiso. She appeared on the census of 1850 at Adrian, Lenawee County, Michigan.
She married WILLIAM F. PARKE on 15 Sep 1854 at the age of 27. William was 11 years older than Catherine when they married. It was a second marriage for William. They had children late in life. The couple had four children. Eliza, Will, Lillian and eight years later their youngest son Zenith Arthur (known as Arthur). Oldest daughter Eliza died at the age of fifteen months, just one month after the birth of brother Will.
