Catharina may be the daughter of Joost VAN SEYSEN and Antje HUYSMAN, baptized on 1 February 1721, or she may be the daughter of Cornelus VAN SEYSEN and Maria BLYDENBURGH, baptized on 19 June 1723, both recorded in the New Amsterdam Church. The two Catharinas are likely first cousins.

Catharina probably died before 1757, as her husband William DOBBS has a new wife by that date.

The surname is spelled variously in records Van Seysen (christening), Van Syssen (marriage), Van Sise.
